Spare the nation the ordeal of impeachment

A new petition launched on the whitehouse.gov website demands that President Obama immediately resign over the innumerable unconstitutional actions he has overseen, notably the recent scandal surrounding wiretapping of journalists.

The full petition, which can be found here on the whitehouse.gov website, states the following:

President Richard Nixon resigned after wiretapping a handful of journalists, sparing the nation the ordeal of impeachment. We call on Obama to do the same. His administration vetted the NSA’s surveillance of millions of Americans and seriously violated the Fourth Amendment. He confiscated the personal records of reporters, thus violating the First Amendment, and the IRS under his watch harassed political organizations opposed to his policies. Moreover, his administration has lied under oath to Congress. In addition to violating Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution by invading Libya, his administration engaged in torture and conducted a covert drone war. Due to the severity of these crimes, we call for the immediate resignation of Barack Obama.

The petition requires 100,000 signatures before July 7 in order to mandate an official White House response.

Aside from recent wiretapping and surveillance scandals, there are a number of other issues over which Obama has clearly abused his authority and acted unconstitutionally.

– Obama failed to obtain congressional authorization for the war on Libya in 2011. Under Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, the power to declare war lies with Congress.

– In June 2011, President Obama arrogantly expressed his hostility to the rule of law when he dismissed the need to get congressional authorization to commit the United States to a military intervention in Libya, churlishly dismissing criticism and remarking, “I don’t even have to get to the Constitutional question.”

– In July 2011, Congress specifically rejected the Obama administration’s attempt to seek approval for war on Libya but the White House later supported a NATO-led assault anyway, terming it a “kinetic” action.

– Obama tried to legitimize his failure to obtain Congressional approval for military involvement by sending a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner in which he said the military assault was “authorized by the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council.”

Jeff Greenwald takes Senator Lindsey Graham to task for defending the destruction of the Fourth Amendment.

Unfortunately, Greenwald insists on using the false left-right paradigm to make his argument. He says the senator from South Carolina is “one of the most right-wing members of the United States Congress.”

Obama is often described as a left-winger and even a socialist. Despite this, his support for the surveillance and war state apparatus mirrors that of Graham, minus a few minor ideological flourishes. Right, left, socialist, conservative – these designations are about as relevant as the color tie worn by senators on a particular day.

Lindsey Graham is not a right-winger. He is an establishment neocon. Graham is one of the primary promoters of the contrived war on terror. It’s his job to push the idea that cartoonish Muslims in far away caves pose an ominous threat to the United States. He says due to this never-ending supposed threat we must surrender our constitutional rights and consent to the military industrial complex stealing trillions of our hard-earned dollars in order to wage illegal and criminal wars in places of interest to banksters and transnational corporations. Instead of protesting the loss of liberty, we are expected to celebrate its demise, as Graham does, and thank the state for its intrusion into the minutest personal details of our lives.

Graham does not oppose the “National Security Administration,” as he calls it (it’s an agency), listening in on his phone calls because he enthusiastically supports the implementation of a high-tech police and surveillance state supposedly in reaction to phantom terrorists who never seem to attack. He is a military dictatorship fetishist who adores war and the simplistic idea of foreign enemies that must be fought against with eternal vigilance.

Lindsey Graham is one of the most dangerous enemies of liberty. This is not especially surprising or unusual because many of the most dangerous enemies of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are in Congress.

Earlier this week, senators Dianne Feinstein and Saxby Chambliss used the phony war on invented terror to say basically the same thing Graham did following the latest revelations about the NSA.

Congress supports the NSA going through what amounts to your underwear drawer. If they opposed it, Congress would move to strip the NSA of its authority to surveil millions of Americans. A few mavericks like Rand Paul still exist in Congress, but they are vastly outnumbered by lickspittle servants of the shadow government and the military authoritarian agenda of the global elite.

Lindsey Graham, Dianne Feinstein, Saxby Chambliss and the rest have sold their souls to the Devil for power, money and fame. It does not bother them in the least that the NSA listens to their phone calls or reads their emails. They are bought and sold like chattel. It is their job to make sure you are unable to practice your God-given natural right to be free of government coercion and violence. It is their duty to make sure you become a slave and never realize your potential to be a free human being.

A lawful revolution is in response to government that abjectly violates its own laws, and refuses all reasonable offers to return government limits within its own constitution. It is a revolution that requests its own law enforcement to do their job to arrest obvious criminals in their own government. The central crimes are in unlawful wars that kill millions, and massive economic fraud that harms billions and loots trillions of the 99%’s earnings every year.

Government crimes was America’s challenge that the Continental Congress and Thomas Jefferson addressed in our Declaration of Independence. Please give two minutes of your attention to this central text of being American:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. We the People hold these patriots as heroes today. I am a history teacher: the Founders considered themselves loyal to their government BECAUSE its history was one of freedom from tyranny, and overthrowing would-be kings that attempted dictatorial rather than limited government.

The American Revolution only occurred a year after its own government attacked its own citizens under an unlawful standing army attempted to disarm its citizens at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. American leaders wrote and offered the “Olive Branch Petition” asking their government to restrain itself within its own laws and essentially forgiving its military-murders of American civilians.

Our government responded in 1775 by calling such Americans “traitors” with no retreat from their orders to arrest American leadership whose only “crime” was asking for lawful government.

That is history; this is today.

As always for today, we ask for peaceful, lawful response to what we allege in good faith as “emperor has no clothes” obvious crimes centering in war and money, and obfuscated by a 1% cartel/corporate media.

My only suggestion to the 99% is to let your heart and mind guide your beautiful, unique, and powerful self-expressions.

Transportation bill orders implementation of ‘Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication System’

A bill already passed by the Senate and set to be ratified by the House not only mandates black box tracking devices in all new cars, it also orders the deployment of ‘vehicle to infrastructure’ communication systems, in other words your vehicle will become part of ‘the Internet of things’ and will be open to constant real-time tracking, eavesdropping and surveillance.

Although introduced and promoted by Democrats Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer, Senate BIll 1813, entitled ‘Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act’ (MAP-21), is expected to be passed by the Republican-controlled House because of its numerous revenue generating provisions.

However, the bill is stuffed full of nightmare big government regulations, including empowering the IRS to revoke passports of accused tax delinquents as well as mandating the installation of black box tracking devices, eventually designed to be used in a tax-by-the-mile system, in all new vehicles from 2015.

Yet another Big Brother measure that is contained deep within the bill appears in Section 53006 – the “Vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications systems deployment.”

‘(a) In General- Not later than 3 years after the date of enactment of this section, the Secretary shall submit a report to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate, the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives that–

‘(1) defines a recommended implementation path for dedicated short-range communications technology and applications;

‘(2) includes guidance on the relationship of the proposed deployment of dedicated short-range communications to the National ITS Architecture and ITS Standards; and

‘(3) ensures competition by not preferencing the use of any particular frequency for vehicle to infrastructure operatio

In simpler terms, this lays the framework for vehicles to be installed with communications systems that constantly beam information about location and other diagnostics both to other vehicles, potentially police cars, as well as infrastructure. Given the fact that light poles are now being fitted with computers that both receive and broadcast wireless Internet signals, this would be the easiest method of connecting all vehicles to the ‘Internet of things’ in the future. Alternatively, 3G or 4G signals would also do the same job.

Not only would this open the door to total surveillance of Americans’ traveling habits as well as constant real time eavesdropping of what is happening inside their vehicle, including audio sensors to record conversations (which are already embedded in the new ‘Intellistreets’ light poles), it would also grease the skids for a carbon tax system whereby drivers are charged by the mile.

As we reported last month, the Internet of things is the process of manufacturing every new product with a system that broadcasts wirelessly via the world wide web, allowing industry and the government to spy ubiquitously on every aspect of your existence.

CIA chief David Petraeus has hailed the “Internet of things” as a transformational boon for “clandestine tradecraft”. In other words, it will soon be easier than ever before to keep tabs on the population since everything they use will be connected to the web, with total disregard for privacy considerations. The spooks won’t have to plant a bug in your home or your vehicle, you will be doing it for them.

The ‘Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act’ represents nothing less than a full frontal assault on the mobility rights of Americans, as well as codifying into law mandatory surveillance technology that will allow the government to both spy on drivers as well as taxing them directly under any future CO2 emissions tax system.
